Online Webcam Diagnostics, Live FPS Testing & Video Quality Inspector via MediaDevices API
This interactive browser-based diagnostic workbench allows you to perform comprehensive quality testing of integrated laptop webcams, external USB desktop cameras, and mobile camera lenses directly in your web browser using the standard MediaDevices API. Instantly verify sensor responsiveness, inspect actual pixel resolution (HD, Full HD, 4K), measure real-time frame rates (FPS), and capture high-resolution test snapshots.
Key Features of the Browser Webcam Inspector
Our online webcam diagnostic tool offers complete functionality for pre-meeting verification and camera sensor tuning across Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS:
- Live FPS Counter (Frame Rate Measurement): real-time calculation of video smoothness (30 FPS, 60 FPS, or 120 FPS performance).
- Hardware Resolution Audit: detect physical video stream dimensions (e.g. 1920x1080 Full HD, 1280x720 HD, or 3840x2160 4K Ultra HD) and native aspect ratios (16:9, 4:3).
- Multi-Camera & Virtual Device Switching: effortlessly switch between internal laptop webcams, secondary USB webcams, front/rear mobile lenses, or virtual camera feeds (OBS Virtual Camera, Camo, EpocCam).
- Framing & Alignment Grid Overlay (Rule of Thirds): toggle composition grid lines for optimal face centering, lighting alignment, and autofocus verification.
- Sensor Image & Color Tuning Sliders: live sliders for brightness, contrast, saturation, and monochrome conversion to test low-light sensor noise.
- High-Resolution Photo Snapshot Capture: capture and instantly download lossless PNG test photos to inspect dead pixels, lens smudges, or compression artifacts.

Why Is My Webcam Not Working? Common Causes & Solutions
If the video preview box remains dark after clicking "Turn On Camera", check the following troubleshooting steps:
- Exclusive Stream Lock by Another App: verify that your camera is not being used in the background by applications such as Skype, OBS Studio, Discord, Telegram, or Zoom. Operating systems allow only one app to lock a video feed at a time.
- Browser Privacy Restrictions: click the padlock icon in your browser address bar (to the left of the URL) and ensure camera access is explicitly set to "Allow".
- Operating System Privacy Settings: in Windows 10/11, navigate to Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Camera and enable "Allow apps to access your camera". On macOS, navigate to System Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Camera.
- Physical Privacy Shutter or Fn Key: check if the mechanical privacy slider on your laptop webcam is open, and ensure the keyboard camera kill switch (e.g. Fn + F6/F10) is disengaged.
