When Grind Setting Is Needed
Professional grind calibration is necessary in the following situations:
- coffee comes out watery, with little to no crema or with sourness
- espresso pours too fast (10–15 seconds) or too slow (over 50 seconds)
- coffee taste is inconsistent — same dose yields different results
- changed bean type or roast level and previous setting no longer works
- grinder has not been cleaned for a long time — grind became uneven
- machine shows errors “too fine grind”, “clogging”, “grinder blocked”
- coffee taste worsened sharply after grinder cleaning
- large amount of fines or boulders visible in the grind
- want to achieve maximum espresso quality for specific beans
- machine used for more than 6–12 months without professional calibration
Proper grind setting is the key to stable and delicious espresso, especially when switching beans or after prolonged use.
