What the Service Includes
The thermal paste replacement service covers work on all primary heat-producing components of computers and laptops. For desktop PCs we replace paste on the processor (Intel LGA 1700/1200/115x, AMD AM4/AM5), graphics card (RTX 30/40/50xx, RX 6000/7000), motherboard chipset, and VRM elements. In laptops we replace thermal paste and pads on CPU, GPU (discrete and integrated), chipset, southbridge, VRM, NVMe SSD (M.2 controller). Old paste and dried pads are fully removed with 99% isopropyl alcohol and lint-free wipes, surfaces are degreased, flatness and cleanliness are inspected. New paste is applied using the best method: pea dot for flat desktop CPU IHS, thin layer or cross pattern for laptops and GPUs with uneven surfaces. Thermal pads are selected by thickness and conductivity (Thermalright Odyssey, Gelid GP-Extreme, Kritical Pads). After reassembly we run mandatory testing: CPU stress (Cinebench R23 multi-core), GPU stress (FurMark, 3DMark Time Spy), temperature and frequency monitoring (HWiNFO, MSI Afterburner). Throttling absence, frequency stability, and fan noise levels are verified. In Khmelnytskyi we also clean heatsink fins from dust, check fan condition, and tune fan curves in BIOS or vendor software. When the Service is Needed
Thermal paste replacement is required when factory or previous paste loses its heat-transfer properties due to drying, pump-out, oxidation, or additive degradation. Main symptoms: high idle temperatures (CPU >55–65 °C, GPU >60–70 °C), load temperatures 95–105 °C+ with throttling, spontaneous shutdowns, loud fan operation even under moderate tasks. Laptops after 1.5–3 years of intensive use (gaming, editing, programming) frequently lose cooling efficiency – keyboard heats up, FPS drops, applications lag. Desktops with stock paste after 1–2 years or quality paste after 3–5 years also need renewal as conductivity declines over time. If temperatures stay high after dust cleaning – the issue is the thermal paste. In Khmelnytskyi Grade recommends replacement every 1.5–3 years depending on workload and paste quality. The service is especially important before upgrades (new high-power CPU/GPU needs optimal heat transfer), after buying used hardware, when switching to hotter platforms (Intel 13–14th gen, Ryzen 7000/9000 series, RTX 4080/4090/5090), and at any sign of thermal performance limiting.
